Our Identity and Vision
The Balingup Medieval Carnivale has always been more than a festival.
For generations, it has been created by people who generously give their time, talents and passion to bring history to life. Volunteers, performers, artisans, musicians, storytellers, committee members and families have each added their own chapter to a remarkable community tradition.
Every costume stitched, every banner raised, every market stall built and every parade marched has helped shape what the Carnivale has become today.
This identity is built upon that legacy.
It is not about changing who we are—it is about expressing more clearly who we have always been.
Inspired by Balingup
The Balingup Medieval Carnivale exists in a place unlike any other.
Nestled among towering forests, rolling hills and the Blackwood Valley, Balingup already feels timeless. Long before visitors enter the gates, they have travelled through landscapes that echo the mystery and beauty of another age.
Our identity embraces this connection.
Rather than borrowing imagery from medieval festivals around the world, we are creating a visual language that belongs here—one that reflects the forests, the changing seasons, the craftsmanship of our makers and the warmth of our community.
This is medieval Balingup.
A kingdom found among the trees.
A Brand That Tells a Story
Every element of our visual identity has been chosen with purpose.
Forest Green represents the ancient forests that surround us and reminds us that our greatest backdrop has always been nature itself.
Antique Gold speaks of honour, craftsmanship and the enduring values of chivalry that sit at the heart of medieval culture.
Burgundy reflects banners flying above castles, noble houses gathering in celebration and the pageantry that fills our streets each year.
Together these colours create an identity that feels rich, authentic and unmistakably Balingup.
The Flag
Throughout history, flags have united kingdoms, welcomed travellers and carried stories across generations.
Our festival flag has been designed with the same intention.
Simple, recognisable and inspired by traditional heraldry, it becomes a symbol that can be seen throughout the village—from entrance gates and market stalls to stages, performers and village streets.
Over time, we hope it becomes something instantly recognisable; a symbol that tells people they have arrived somewhere special.
Building a Lasting Identity
Great festivals are remembered not only for what happens over a single weekend, but for the feeling they create year after year.
A consistent visual identity helps visitors recognise the Carnivale wherever they encounter it—on a banner, a website, a social media post or a flag flying through the village.
It creates familiarity.
It builds trust.
It tells a story before a single word is spoken.
Our vision is to grow an identity that can be carried proudly for decades, evolving carefully while remaining true to the spirit that has made the Balingup Medieval Carnivale so beloved.
Honouring the Past. Creating the Future.
The Balingup Medieval Carnivale has never been built by one person.
It has been shaped by countless hands and generous hearts over many years. This identity honours every volunteer, every committee, every performer, every artisan and every visitor who has helped keep the medieval spirit alive in our village.
As we look to the future, our ambition is not simply to host another successful event.
It is to create one of Australia's most distinctive medieval experiences—an authentic village where history, creativity, craftsmanship and community come together in a setting found nowhere else.
This is our vision. To remain proudly connected as a community. To celebrate the traditions of the past. To welcome new generations into the story.
And to continue building a living medieval kingdom that people will return to and remember, for many years to come.
