When is the Balingup Medieval Carnivale?

Where is the Carnivale held?

The event is held at the Balingup Community Grounds on Brockman Street, Balingup, Western Australia.

Is the event suitable for families?

Absolutely! The Carnivale is designed for all ages, with entertainment, activities, performers, medieval combat, music, food, and interactive experiences for children and adults alike.

Do I have to dress in a medieval costume? Can I hire a costume?

Not at all—but we highly encourage it! Dressing up adds to the atmosphere and is one of the highlights of the weekend. Yes, Costume hire is available during the Carnivale, with hundreds of costumes for adults and children.

Can I buy tickets at the gate?

Yes. Tickets are available online before the event and at the gate during the weekend (subject to availability).

Welcome to the Realm

We are delighted to welcome you to the Balingup Medieval Carnivale. Our volunteers work throughout the year to create an unforgettable medieval experience for visitors of all ages. By attending the Carnivale, you agree to the following conditions to help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

Tickets & Entry

  • Tickets may be purchased online before the event or at the entry gates during the weekend, subject to availability.

  • Purchasing online is recommended to avoid queues at the entrance.

  • Please present either a printed ticket or your electronic ticket upon arrival.

  • If you lose your ticket before the event, please contact us and we will assist where possible.

  • If you have selected the wrong ticket type, you will need to process a self-refund through Humanitix (before the event) and purchase the correct ticket.

  • Children under 12 years receive free entry when accompanied by a paying adult.

  • Companion Card holders receive complimentary entry.

Refund Policy

Tickets may be self-refunded through Humanitix prior to the event in accordance with their refund process.

No refunds will be available after the event has commenced unless required by Australian Consumer Law.

Wristbands & Re-entry

All guests will receive an official Carnivale wristband upon entry.

If you wish to leave the grounds during the day, simply show your wristband when returning for re-entry.

A Medieval Adventure in All Weather

The Balingup Medieval Carnivale is proudly an all-weather event.

Only in exceptional circumstances, such as a declared emergency, severe weather event, or official direction from emergency services or police, may the event be cancelled or altered.

Dress the Part

While medieval costume is not compulsory, it is warmly encouraged.

Whether you arrive as royalty, a knight, a wandering minstrel or village folk, dressing in medieval attire helps bring the entire village to life.

Need a costume? Visit our Costume Rooms located within the Community Centre during the Carnivale.

Accessibility

We strive to make the Carnivale as welcoming as possible.

Please note that the event is held within an established village setting featuring gravel pathways, heritage buildings and uneven ground. Some attractions, including the Fighting Arena and Dragon Burning area, are located on sloping terrain.

Accessible parking is available, and our volunteers are happy to assist wherever possible.

Assistance Dogs

Certified Assistance Dogs are welcome.

Please present your accreditation documentation at the entrance gate upon arrival.

Parking

A range of parking options are available throughout the village, including accessible parking, public parking areas and EV charging spaces.

Please follow event signage and directions from our volunteer marshals.

Courtesy Shuttle

A complimentary shuttle bus operates throughout the weekend to designated locations within the Balingup townsite.

Service times and stops are subject to operational requirements and passenger safety.

Camping & Accommodation

There is no camping available within the Carnivale grounds.

Visitors are encouraged to book accommodation early, as Balingup and the surrounding region become very popular during Carnivale weekend.

Respect the Realm

To help everyone enjoy the festivities, we ask all visitors to:

  • Follow the directions of event volunteers and emergency personnel.

  • Respect performers, reenactors, traders and fellow guests.

  • Supervise children at all times.

  • Help care for our beautiful village by using the bins provided.

  • Treat the medieval grounds, heritage buildings and displays with care.

Anyone behaving in a manner that places others at risk or disrupts the enjoyment of the event may be asked to leave.

Photography

The Balingup Medieval Carnivale is a public event.

Photography and videography are captured throughout the weekend for promotional and historical purposes. By entering the event, you acknowledge that you may appear in these images or recordings.
